Skin Concerns / Acne scars
Acne scars and uneven skin texture
An indentation or raised scar changes the skin’s surface. A flat mark changes its colour. Identifying the difference helps set a useful goal before considering treatment.
Which change are you noticing?
Acne can leave different patterns of scarring, and more than one may be present. Tell Sarah whether you are most concerned about depressions, raised areas or uneven texture. If the change is mainly colour, our pigmentation guide may be a better starting point.
Control active acne first
Before planning scar treatment, Sarah considers whether acne is still active. If you are still getting inflamed spots, read our acne and breakouts guide and seek appropriate medical advice. Scar treatment and control of current breakouts are separate steps.
Options at Paramed
Once active acne is controlled, microneedling may be considered for suitable scar patterns. PRP Face may also be discussed within an individual plan. Sarah will explain the evidence, limitations and whether either approach is relevant to the changes you want assessed.
Deep, tethered or raised scars may require specialist approaches beyond these services. A consultation should clarify this rather than assuming that one procedure can treat every scar.
Planning a realistic course
Bring details of previous acne treatments, scar procedures and any history of difficult healing. Discuss the improvement you hope to see, the number and spacing of sessions, recovery and total cost. Agree how progress will be reviewed before deciding about further treatment.
Complete scar removal is not a realistic aim. Response varies, and risks can include pigment changes, infection and scarring. Your assessment should cover alternatives and whether specialist referral would be more appropriate.
