Under-eye concerns: dark circles, bags and hollows
Darkness, a hollow, puffiness and fine crepey skin can look similar in a photograph, but they need different assessment. Start with what you are noticing rather than selecting an eye-area product.
Dark circles, bags or a hollow?
-
Dark circles describe an appearance. Pigment, thin skin and shadows can all contribute.
-
A tear-trough hollow is a dip between the lower eyelid and cheek. The shadow it casts can look like darkening.
-
An under-eye bag is a raised or puffy area. It is different from a hollow, and the two can occur together.
-
Fine lines and crepey skin concern surface texture. A skin-quality treatment has a different aim from correcting a hollow.
What Sarah assesses
Explain whether the change is longstanding, varies during the day or has appeared recently. Mention previous eye-area treatments and any swelling. Sarah can discuss your main concern, consider the surrounding eye and cheek area, and explain when medical or specialist assessment should come first.
Options for selected skin-quality concerns
Where fine lines or crepey-looking skin are the priority, Sarah can compare Plinest Eye, Sunekos Under Eye, Jalupro Classic Under Eye and Jalupro Young Eye. These are different products and appointments. The proposed area, formulation, course and expected limitations should be discussed individually.
These skin-quality options do not remove protruding fat or excess eyelid skin. They should not be presented as a universal treatment for eye bags or every cause of dark circles.
What if the concern is a hollow or persistent bag?
A suitable hollow may lead to a separate discussion about tear-trough filler, while persistent structural bags may need an eye or eyelid specialist. Filler does not treat pigment itself and is not a routine answer to puffiness. An assessment may conclude that a cosmetic injectable is unlikely to address your main concern.
Under-eye injections can cause bruising, swelling and lumps. Filler can also cause prolonged swelling or a bluish appearance; rare complications include blood-vessel blockage and loss of vision. Sarah will explain the risks of any proposed procedure, alternatives and aftercare before you decide.
When to seek medical advice
New, painful or one-sided swelling needs medical assessment. Sudden changes in vision need urgent medical attention. A cosmetic consultation is not a substitute for assessing these symptoms.
What about crow’s feet?
Lines at the outer eye when you smile are a different concern from under-eye bags or hollows. Read our lines and wrinkles guide for the distinction between expression lines and skin texture.
